Everything about cloud sync, backups, TV mode, and troubleshooting.
Your sync code is the key to your data. When you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted in your browser before anything leaves your device. The server only ever sees ciphertext. Write your code down or save it in a password manager. If you lose it, your synced data is unrecoverable — I can't decrypt it for you.
Open mytile.app on the new device. On the welcome screen, tap "Have a sync code? Restore your data" and enter your code. Your dashboard will be restored instantly.
It deletes your encrypted data from the server. Your sync code becomes invalid. Your local data stays untouched — nothing on your device is deleted.
Yes — remove sync first, then set it up again. You'll get a new code and a fresh upload of your current data. Note: to prevent abuse, you can create up to 5 new sync codes per day per network.
Go to Settings and tap Export to download a .json backup file. You can restore from it anytime using Import.
If you don't use cloud sync, export regularly. Your data only exists in this browser — clearing your cache or switching browsers means it's gone.
Open mytile.app?tv or add ?tv to the URL. Enter your sync code to load a read-only version of your dashboard. Full transparency: my own TV is too old to run a browser, so I haven't been able to test this myself. If it works (or doesn't) on your TV, I'd love to hear about it.
mytile is a PWA (Progressive Web App). It runs directly in your browser — no app store needed. On most devices you can install it to your home screen: in your browser, tap "Share" or the menu icon, then "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App". It will look and feel like a native app, works offline, and updates automatically. Why no store listing? Honestly, I didn't feel like paying $100/year plus buying a Mac just to wrap a website in an app container. The PWA does everything a native app would.
Without cloud sync, your data lives only in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser cache deletes it permanently.
Tip: Enable cloud sync or export a backup regularly to protect your data.
